Privacy Policy

Ion Astral is operated by CONSTELIA LLC, a limited liability company registered in Florida, USA, based in Miami, FL. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our store at ionastral.com and through the Astra app, exactly why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the rights you have over it. We have written it to reflect what the store and the app actually do — nothing more. For UK/EU data protection law, CONSTELIA LLC is the data controller. For anything in this policy, write to support@ionastral.com — we reply within 1 business day.

Part 1 — The store

Information we collect when you order

  • Order details — your name, shipping address, and email address, used only to produce, ship, and communicate about your order.
  • Birth data — the birth date, time, and place you provide at checkout. This is the raw material of your chart: we use it solely to calculate and render the natal chart printed on your piece, and to prepare the reading your print unlocks in Astra.

Payment is handled at checkout by our commerce platform. We do not store your full card details on our systems.

Store service providers

  • Shopify — powers our store, checkout, and payments.
  • Gelato — prints and ships your order from a facility in your region (US, Canada, or UK). Gelato receives only what is necessary to produce and deliver: the print file, your name, and your shipping address.
  • Klaviyo — sends our email marketing, only where you have consented. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Part 2 — The Astra app

Data the app collects, and what each item is for

  • Account information — your email address (via our authentication provider, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In) and a user identifier. Purpose: creating and securing your account.
  • Birth data (treated as sensitive) — your date, time, and place of birth. Purpose: solely to calculate your astrological charts and readings (natal, transits, solar return, compatibility). We do not use birth data for advertising, and we do not sell it. Because it is personal and identifying, we protect it as sensitive information even where local law does not strictly require it.
  • Content you create — journal entries, your streak, reading feedback, the messages you send to Astra, and any birth details you enter for compatibility. If you enter someone else's birth details, please do so only with their awareness.
  • Subscription status — whether your Astra Premium is active, expired, or in its included year. Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your App Store account. We never collect or store your payment card, bank, or billing details — Apple handles payment.
  • Basic device and usage data — device type, OS version, app version, and which features you use, to keep the app stable and improve it. Outcome signals (for example, whether a reading was rated helpful) are captured in anonymized, non-identifying form.

What we do NOT collect: your device GPS location, contacts, photos, health data, browsing history, or biometric identifiers. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not share data with data brokers or ad networks.

Astra AI — how your data is used to generate readings

Astra is a grounded, conversational AI astrologer powered by Anthropic's Claude models. To generate a response, we send the relevant parts of your computed chart and the messages you send to Astra to Anthropic's API, so the model can answer with your real placements instead of generic text.

  • Anthropic processes this data strictly as our service provider. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train its models, and it is handled under Anthropic's limited retention practices (generally up to ~30 days for operational and safety purposes, then deleted, unless law requires longer).
  • Astra is not a substitute for professional medical, financial, legal, or mental-health advice, and does not provide it. Where a conversation suggests crisis, Astra is designed to surface appropriate crisis-line resources.
  • You control what you tell Astra. Please avoid sharing information you would not want processed to generate a reading.

Service providers (all)

We share personal information only with the providers that make Ion Astral work, each bound by contract to use it only on our instructions: Shopify (store), Gelato (printing and shipping), Klaviyo (email, with consent), Supabase (app authentication and database), Anthropic (Astra AI responses), RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (Sign in with Apple; App Store billing), and Google (Google Sign-In). If we add privacy-conscious analytics or error monitoring in the future, we will update this policy first.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our users' safety, or in a business transfer — with notice where required.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share your birth data with advertisers or data brokers. Your chart is yours.

Your rights

We honor these rights for all users, wherever you live: access or export your data, correct it (including birth details), delete your account and data, and withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing consent for birth data means we can no longer generate your charts, since it is essential to the service). UK/EU users additionally have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO). California residents additionally have the rights to know, delete, correct, limit the use of sensitive personal information, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — note that we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — with no discrimination for exercising any right.

To exercise a right, email support@ionastral.com. We verify requests via your account email and respond within the legally required timeframe. You can also delete your account at any time from within the app.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active, so your charts, journal, and conversations persist across sessions. When you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete or anonymize it from our active systems and instruct our providers to do the same, except limited records we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. Store order records are retained as required by commerce and tax law. Anonymized signals that are not linked to you may be retained to improve the product.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest with our database provider, access controls, and authentication through trusted providers. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address and notify any incident as the law requires.

Children

Ion Astral is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 to use the app (16 where EU law applies). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact support@ionastral.com and we will delete it.

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required for UK/EU/Canada users, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum). Details on request.

Changes

When we make material changes, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
